It is life we must think of when we remember Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, how transient and how powerful it can be when we commit to living it in service to each other.
Not much is told of his sprawling humanitarian outreach, which included a safe house for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse, a home for indigent young boys, a vocational training center, a clinic that serviced the community for next to nothing, a food bank, countless scholarships, thousands of changed lives. Pastor Taiwo was a graceful embodiment of the gospel of love he preached. A practical theologian who nourished deep intellectual traditions and provided space for a contestation of ideas at our frequent editorial meetings. I saw everything I could become in his generous belief in my abilities. What courage you gave us to fight for the truths we believed in and to pursue the righteous dreams of our hearts. An endlessly inspiring model of a man who made everyone around him better.
One of the greatest honors of my life was working with Pastor Taiwo Odukoya. What are you doing now? How much are they paying you? Can I make you an offer?
